You know what does my head in! Watching small groups of corporate men and women walk through Sydney streets between meetings. The men are at ease. They’re wearing flat, enclosed shoes, striding their natural stride in complete comfort. The women scramble to keep up, at speeds their shoes aren’t designed for, sub-consciously scanning for heel scraping cracks in the footpath.
This is what it looks like. The men are in control and the women look like they’re trying hard! For me, it doesn’t matter how you try and play this out, it feels like the women give away some of their power because they're wearing the wrong shoes.
I understand walking meetings are increasingly the go ... so here’s a thought, when you hit the streets and you know there’s going to be lots of communication, ensure you footwear doesn’t cause you to struggle keep up.
